Fields Ertel / Mason-Montgomery Road Signal System Timing and Design

TEC completed this project as part of our ODOT task order which included a signal optimization study, construction plans and specifications, and signal timing plans for 21 intersections within the Fields Ertel Road/Mason Montgomery Road Signal System. The project includes installation of new traffic signal controllers at these intersections, connection of existing fiber optic interconnect to the new controllers, integration of the existing wireless system with the proposed fiber optic network, upgrading the existing closed-loop systems to a central-based control system with new hardware and software, installation of nine incident management cameras, and providing a central based signal system for the monitoring of the traffic signal system. This project allowed ODOT to purchase their first central based system; this system has been expanded to add intersections throughout the state.  This area experiences some of the worst congestion in the state.
