Springfield Pike Safety Study and Road Diet

As a subconsultant to JMA Consultants, TEC completed a Safety Study along SR 4 (Springfield Pike) from West Mills Avenue to Bonham Road, including the traffic signals at nine intersections. TEC compiled collision diagrams and crash analyses for all locations. Our team utilized the results of the study to develop recommendations for the corridor along with a cost-benefit analysis. The recommended improvements that were implemented include reconstructing and re-striping along SR 4 to utilize a road diet design. This involves converting a 4-lane cross section into a 3-lane cross section center two-way-left-turn lane. “Sharrows,” pedestrian signals and traffic signal upgrades were also recommended. TEC also provided grant application assistance and attended / presented at public meetings.
