Procter & Gamble Expansion Study
In anticipation of the expansion of P&G’s Mason Business Center (P&GMBC), TEC was retained to carry out a traffic impact study to examine the main arterials and develop recommendations to ensure safe and efficient access to the area. The study included traffic counts, blue tooth destination review, and arterial analysis along Mason-Montgomery Road, Socialville-Foster Road, Wilkens Boulevard, Duke Boulevard, and Innovation Way. TEC provided a capacity analysis for each individual intersection and a SimTraffic model simulation to determine Arterial Measures of Effectiveness and how each roadway improvement interrelates to the rest of the network.
P&GMBC is a distinctive facility, requiring modification to traditional trip generation methods. TEC utilized the known existing variables, building square footage and number of employees to determine the added trips when the campus expansion is complete. It was estimated there would be an additional 597 total trips generated in the AM Peak and 432 total trips generated in the PM Peak. Trips were distributed through the network based on existing travel patterns along with the known destinations of the trips, which TEC developed from employee zip code data.
TEC used Synchro 9 to analyze the capacity of individual intersections and a SimTraffic model simulation to determine Arterial Measures of Effectiveness and how each roadway improvement interrelates to the rest of the network.
